A Message from the Superintendent

January 26, 2025

Dear FESD Families,

We want to reaffirm our commitment to providing a welcoming, safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students attending our Fortuna Elementary School District schools. Regardless of what may be happening in the political world, our schools remain focused on ensuring every student has the opportunity to learn and grow in a respectful and welcoming space.

Our schools are places where diversity is valued, and inclusion is practiced every day.  We are committed to providing a supportive environment where all students, regardless of background or circumstance, feel safe, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.

If your child needs extra support during this time, our principals, counselors, and staff are here to help.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any concerns or needs.

Please refer to the attached information from the California Department of Justice, “Immigration Enforcement Actions at California Schools - Guide for Students and Families,” or visit our website at fortunaesd.com for additional resources.  If you would like to update your child’s emergency contacts, please contact the school’s secretary.

Thank you for your partnership in creating a positive and inclusive community for all students.

Sincerely,

Amy Betts
FESD Superintendent
