Great Attendance Districtwide

Posted Date: 9/09/24 (7:00 PM)

Good afternoon FESD community. For the first three weeks of school, attendance in the district has been excellent! Through Friday, the district's overall attendance rate was 95.73%. Both Toddy Thomas and Walker have percentages over 96%!

Our attendance goal is 96% for each site. We want EVERY student to be happy and successful, and being in school regularly improves both success and contentment for kids.  Studies show that students who regularly attend school and graduate from high school build a foundation for more positive life outcomes including:

  • Better academic performance

  • More work options and earning potential as adults

  • Greater opportunities for higher education

  • Higher civic engagement

  • More developed life skills that positively influence health and economic decisions

If your family is struggling with barriers to attendance, our team is available to assist you. Email me, contact your school's office, or call the Family Resource Center on the Walker Elementary campus at 707-725-9082 and we will be happy to help.

If your child has excessive unexcused absences or truant tardies, you will receive a truancy letter from the district. This is required by California's education code and board policy. Letters will be sent every two weeks. Our intent with these letters is to inform families of their legal responsibility for school attendance. Continued truant absences will result in a referral to the Eel River School Attendance Review Board (SARB). Our main goal is to ensure your child's success.

Thank you for your partnership in your children's educational experience. Again, please contact our team for any support you may need.
